Six Truths You Need to Know About Vaping

on August 07, 2019

Vaping has quickly become the hottest way to kick your smoking addiction. It’s also become the hottest way for young people to get into smoking. Cable news anchors love to report on vapes as a dangerous trend among teens. But how could something that is an alternative to smoking be so dangerous?

It’s time to get into the truth about vaping.

Whether you are new to the world of vaping or you’re an old pro, it’s important to educate yourself about what’s in your vape and what risks come with vaping. New products are coming out all the time. While some of these products are aimed at helping smokers quit and promoting safe tobacco and marijuana consumption, others are just trying to get you hooked.

The more you know, the easier it will be to make an informed decision on how you want to vape.

It’s Not Allowed Everywhere

Before we talk about health, let’s talk about stealth.

One of the advantages of vaping is that it’s more discreet than cigarettes or marijuana. No one is going to catch a dank whiff of your vape pen and get suspicious. But that doesn’t mean you can pull out your vape everywhere that you go.

Each state has different rules when it comes to vaping. As of July 2019, there is no state that prohibits the use of vapes. However, vapes may be prohibited in:

  • Bars and restaurants
  • City parks
  • Enclosed workplaces
  • Public educational facilities

Vaping is not allowed everywhere

Check your state’s laws before you vape. Even if the substances you are vaping are not harmful to others, authorities may not know the difference. Breaking the laws may get you kicked out of an establishment or even a fine.

There Is A Lot We Don’t Know About Vapes Yet

One of the most important truths that you should know about vaping is that there is a lot of truth to be discovered. New vape products are coming out everyday, so what may be true today about vapes may not be true when a new line of products hits the market.

One of the biggest questions that people ask about vaping is, “Is it safe?”

Vapes have been advertised as a healthier alternative to cigarettes. Rather than inhaling the thousands of chemicals in cigarettes, vapes offer a cleaner alternative.

These claims, while supported by many experts, are not considered facts. Researchers still have questions about the contents of vape juice and e-liquids. Most can agree that they don’t contain the 7,000 chemicals and possible carcinogens that are in cigarettes. But you could still be inhaling dangerous, and potentially addictive, chemicals.

You Can Get Addicted to Vaping

No, you won’t get addicted just because you learned some new vape tricks. A majority of e-cig products still contain nicotine. Nicotine is a highly addictive substance that makes cigarettes so hard to quit.

Not All Vapes Are The Same

In fact, vaping could become more addictive than cigarettes. It’s easy to keep track of how many cigarettes you smoke (and how much nicotine you consume) each day. A single cigarette contains 8-20mg of nicotine. A Juul pod contains the same amount of nicotine as 20 cigarettes. Unless you are really good at counting how many puffs you’ve taken from your vape, you might lose track as to how much nicotine you are ingesting.

It’s not unheard of for vape users to end up consuming more nicotine than they were consuming back in the days when they smoked cigarettes.

Not All Vapes Are The Same

Juul cartridges are not the same as other cartridges. If you are curious about how much nicotine you’re inhaling, you’ll need to check with the manufacturer of your favorite cartridge or e-liquid. All of these different substances contain different flavors, chemicals, and risks.

So you don’t want to vape nicotine products. You can just pop whatever into your vape and enjoy an addiction-free vape, right?

Not necessarily. Not all cartridges or materials are compatible with every type of vape. You can’t refill a classic e-cig with the e-liquid from your Juul pod. Some vape devices are only single-use, and you can’t choose what type of liquid you’re vaping. Other vape devices only sell a limited amount of cartridges that fit into the vape mod. If you want to vape your fresh flower, you’ll need a specific type of vape.

Before you buy a vape, think about the type of liquid, oil, or flower that you want to vape. Can you easily fill and refill your vape with the contents of your choice? If you can’t, you might want to do some more shopping.

There Are Ways to Customize Your Vape Experience

Let’s talk about refilling your vape pen. Everyone is looking for a different vape experience. Nowadays, you can vape different flavors of e-liquid, dry flower, CBD oil, or even straight THC. You can get the vape experience that you want with a refillable cartridge.

There Are Ways to Customize Your Vape Experience

Sure, you can get a vape with a cartridge, empty out the cartridge, and then refill it with the substance of your choice. But you don’t have to wait. You can buy an empty, sturdy cartridge for the vape pen of your choice and fill it up with whatever you want to vape.

It Doesn’t Have to Be Expensive

Many people switch over to vaping because of the price difference. The high cost of cigarettes (and buying them a few times a week) can be frustrating. Purchasing a single vape pen, and purchasing e-liquid less frequently, can be cost-effective.

Not all vapes are the same, and not all vapes are the same price.

The first vape pen you purchase (or the fifth) doesn’t have to squeeze your budget too tightly. Budget vape pens are starting to hit the market and make a big impact. These pens tend to be discrete, convenient, and just as effective as other products on the market.

No matter what you want to vape or why you want to vape in the first place, be sure to do some shopping and research beforehand.
